If you have already taken the first steps and want to continue learning, improving or perfecting your skills, the intermediate level surf course is for you.
This is the time when you can start catching your very first waves before they break. So, the technique of “take off” will be essential, at this point knowing how to paddle correctly is fundamental so you can get to the optimum speed and to be able to surf the wave standing up and going in the same direction as the wave.
Learning about the tides and currents will help you to get to know how to flow through them and use them to save energy. We will practice proper paddling techniques, which will help you save energy, avoid muscle problems and help you to catch more waves.
This is the stage where we leave the comfort zone (foams) and come face to face with our first waves.
It’s an important skill to know how to get out of breaks without getting exhausted and we will learn other techniques such as the turtle or skimoroll as well as enjoy letting ourselves be carried away by the waves when we fall without getting scared.
By catching the first waves in this course, mistakes will be corrected and weaknesses strengthened. So it’s a really important stage to continue progressing and soon we´ll be able to catch waves properly.
At this point in the course you can also add surf skating courses, which are similar to skateboarding but we work with a surfboard and will help you with handling the surfboard in the sea.
It has been shown that by training on land with these surfboards you learn much faster than if you were in the sea, by using them you can improve your positioning and motor skills, as well as improve your style, without time constraints.
Standing on the surfboard for a few seconds in water leaves us with little or no time to react but with our surfskate course on land we can give all the information necessary for quicker progress which won’t be as easy when you’re in water.
Nowadays it´s used by many professional surfers and it is a very popular tool in the surf world because of the similarities and all the benefits it comes with. It even helps to strengthen your legs and hips which will improve and perfect your movements as well as prevent possible injuries.
